Collaborations
Cook Children’s Center for Community Health brings partners together to create healthier communities for children and families. Guided by the Spectrum of Prevention, we take a comprehensive approach—examining the many factors that impact health and well-being while leveraging multiple levels of engagement to create lasting solutions. Through collaboration and strategic action, we work together to build a healthier future for every child.
- Influencing policy and legislation: Using community data to drive evidence based practices to support policy changes that impact children's health in a more comprehensive way.
- Changing organizational practices: Collaboratives convene partners from across the eight-county service area to promote selected health messages, build capacity and raise awareness throughout the region.
- Fostering coalitions and networks: Action teams focus on developing and supporting strategic plans to implement health improvement strategies. These teams work to educate providers, deliver direct services to families, share key messages, and distribute awareness materials and prevention tools within specific communities or zip codes, or among priority populations.
- Educating providers: We offer numerous training opportunities such as our train-the-trainers throughout the year to refresh and update partner’s knowledge on safety and well-being issues.
- Promoting community education: Our staff work directly and through partners to deliver evidence-based education across diverse community settings, ensuring families receive consistent and reliable health information.
- Strengthening individual knowledge and skills: Our resources are used to educate providers, promote community education and strengthen knowledge and skills.
